Now, if you don’t believe that Jesus gets down in the weeds of our lives, then don’t bother reading any further.
One of my daughters was fourteen, soon to be fifteen, when she wanted to be just about anywhere other than home. Back then, I spent my days working, my nights looking for her and all the in- between moments, praying. Let me tell you that I am a prayer . I pray for parking places, lost keys that need to be found, sick people, happy people, (well you get what I am trying to say), but for once in my life, I didn’t have the words to pray to my Lord for my daughter’s safety. I prayed just simply, “Please, Lord Jesus, send your angels to surround her!” Again and again I pleaded these words.
I drove down alleys, called the missing children’s hotline, called the police, and not having control of her where-about, her safety or her return, I simply called out to Jesus to send His angels to keep her safe.
A year or so fast forwarded, she told me this story. She was downtown Denver one night around the midnight hour, waiting to board the free shuttle bus to occupy her time. She remembers being very hungry. In her words, “An old homeless- looking man came up to me and asked me if I could spare a cigarette. I gave him one. He put it in his pocket and then handed me a twenty dollar bill and said to me, ‘God Bless you. Be careful out here for you don’t know the danger that is around you.’ “ The shuttle bus came and they both boarded. He walked to the back of the bus, and a moment later she looked back towards him and he was gone.
My daughter was home and safe the next day. Thank You Lord!
Ah, you might question, “Really, an angel that looked like a homeless old man and asking for a cigarette?” Why not! My God came down to earth as a baby, was whipped, beaten and died for me! He could have had a thousand angels rescue Him on the cross, but He stayed for me… and for my daughter. Of course He would send an angel, disguised as an old, poor needy stranger asking for a cigarette from a scared, hungry child only to “feed her and warn her young, naive spirit of the dangers surrounding her.”
Luke 4: 10 (NIV)"For it is written, He will command His angels concerning you to guard you carefully."
Hebrews 13:1-2 “Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”
Footnote: Today, she is a beautiful, blessed wife and mother of two and I thank my God for her!

I love your daughter, too, and I'm glad she was returned safely. Oh the things we put our mothers through when we're teens.
