Whatever will I do with this gift?

With Christmas behind us and the living room still covered with empty boxes and ripped colorful paper, my question to you is “What gift did you receive this year?”

Did you receive a high tech gift that you are still wondering whether or not you will be able to use it to its full potential? If you don’t get to know this new gift of yours and use it every day, you will be short-changing yourself on all of the wonderful features it possesses! It can actually uncomplicate your life if you use its amazing features regularly.

Perhaps you received a new navigational system which you will rely on for getting from point A to point B, using the easiest and safest route? If you fail to take it with you on your next trip, you could find yourself lost yet again!

As for me, I opened a gift of beautiful princess-cut diamond earrings. Ah, so beautiful and lovely! What am I going to do with these expensive earrings? What special occasion will I take them out and put them on – oh! It must be a very extraordinary occasion. Where should I put them until that special occasion arises? I know! I will put them back in their box, and then within a larger box, and then way back on the top shelf behind closed cabinet drawers. Yes! That is where I will put these beautiful diamonds! No one will find this beautiful gift there!

What was your gift? A gift is not much useful if we do not open it, use it, or share it with others to see? Christmas time is when we reflect upon our gift of our Savior, Emmanuel – Jesus Christ! Are you going to stick Him back in the box when Christmas is over, among the decorations and artificial tree, much like my diamonds? Or, should we adorn His beauty, just like wearing my diamonds, for others to see and admire, sharing His gift of beauty, clarity and light to the world? Princess cut indeed! I am the child of the King! Makes me “Princess-cut!”

The gift of the Savior, sent to save, comfort, strengthen and forgive, to break through our walls and soften our hearts, to breathe new hope and life into us. Don't keep Him as a baby! Take Him out of the manger! Allow Him to navigate your life - don't stay lost!
