Meet Joe

Joe is a 13 year old boy who is growing into a tall, handsome young man – a chip off the old block, his father Jason. Joe is my much loved grandson. Joe has a smile that lights up the room, a giggle that is quick to escape, hands and feet that literally cannot be slowed down when he is happy. And, Joe is happy most of the time.

Joe is patient in responding to tasks he would rather not do. He is engaged in the moment, whether it is making his unique swords for his action figures, looking through his bible during Sunday church service, chasing the dog up and down the stairs, eating his favorite foods, telling a new “knock- knock” joke, or kidding his Grandma.

Our family parties do not truly begin until Joe arrives. He bounces into the gathering where I quickly seek out my hug, and to quickly catch up with the fun he always asks, “So, what’s going on?”

Joe loves unconditionally. He shares a smile with whoever is, or is not, looking. He is sensitive, he is strong, he achieves, he doesn’t give up, he is all of these things and more – He is Joe.

On Friday, April 2nd, join me in wearing blue to help raise awareness for Autism. For Joe….
