Challenged by a Bus!

Commuting to work equates to ten hours travel time per week, providing the roads are dry. Then there is the parking issue. Coupled with the gas prices and a few rear-enders under my belt, the bus is an appealing alternative means to get to work.

From time to time, I opt for the bus over the car. I love chatting with the regular passengers and drivers and relaxing with a book if I choose to. I admire and learn from my fellow Denverites who are reliant on either a wheelchair or a seeing-eye dog to assist them from getting from one place to another. They seem to do it with such ease despite their personal challenges.

From time to time, I “Pull a Patti”. This is a phrase my co-workers have coined for doing something that appears to be somewhat “scatterbrained” or a senseless, silly act with no human reasoning behind it. I have my own personal challenges which either comes from being too busy, too blonde, too complex, too simple…. I don’t really know. My challenges hinder my day to day life at times and have filtered into my bus travels.

One evening, I arrived at the Park and Ride (Bus Stop) in North Denver Area, departed the bus only to realize that I had actually driven to work that day. I didn’t own a cell phone at that time and had to trek to a bowling alley to call someone to rescue me.

Another time, a co-worker suggested me trying out another Park and Ride located on the Boulder Turnpike instead of I-25 thinking this might just be more convenient for me.  I thought about it that day and thought, “What better time than today to try her advice!” I rode the city bus to Market Street Station, deliberately chose the bus that would take me to the Boulder Turnpike Park and Ride in Westminster and proudly boarded for my ride home……………… Darn, I did it again! I must have “Pulled a Patti!” I should have chosen this new bus stop at the beginning of my day instead of mid-stream.  How in the world was I going to get to the other side of town to where my car was?

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5
....................... He hasn't stranded me yet! (Although at times I can almost see Him shaking his head with a smile!)

  1. This makes me appreciate my work commute of two blocks to my office or just downstairs when I work from home.
